Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Ultra Longwear Concealer Review

I’ve only heard good things about the New Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Ultra Longwear concealer so when John Lewis kindly gifted it to me, I was extremely excited to give it a go! Out of any makeup item, I’m always the most excited to try out new foundations & concealers as I feel they can make a huge difference in how your skin looks. I’ve been using this concealer religiously for about a week and have quickly developed a firm opinion about it… Is this my new favourite concealer?

What is it: It is described as being a weightless, medium to full coverage concealer, which seamlessly blurs away darkness & facial imperfections. Its crease-resistant formula provides all-day hydration for up to 12-hours whilst providing a natural finish. There are 12 shades to choose from that have a mix of cool, neutral and yellow bases from fair through to very deep. I chose the shade 2N (neutral), which is a great match for me.

Application & Formula: This concealer contains a flexible & versatile doe-foot applicator that is designed to be flat, making it extremely easy to create my usual V shape under the eyes – If only all of the concealers were designed this way as it scored points solely for having that feature! The formula is super opaque without feeling thick or heavy. In fact, the first time that I applied it under my eyes, I was honestly amazed at how quickly & seamlessly it blended into my skin – I had to just pause what I was doing and stare in disbelief. I wasn’t expecting it to be so opaque yet so easy to blend. Typically, I use a damp beauty sponge to press it in as opposed to blending it away, as I feel it gives much more of a flawless finish.

Finish: The coverage as stated, is medium to full coverage and can easily be built up to full if desired by lightly layering on more product. As it is super-pigmented, I find that I only need one application to get a good amount of coverage. Once blended into the skin, it gives a flawless and undetectable finish, providing that blurred effect as marketed. If you like fairly sheer and liquidy concealers then this concealer is not for you.

The thing I love most about this concealer is that it is indeed hydrating. If you have been following me for a while, then you’ll know that I have dry skin and finding products that sit well on my skin can be quite a challenge. I usually find thicker products to be quite drying and sit on fine lines, but this concealer does nothing of the sort – it melts into the skin beautifully, whilst providing that natural-looking radiance.

Lasting power: I did not try this on for a full 12 hours so I cannot really comment on if it stays on for that long – although, I have been wearing it to work for around 8 hours and I have to say that it stayed put without budging or wearing away. With any concealer, I find that I have to set it straight away to avoid any creasing. I set it with the Laura Mercier translucent settingpowder and I haven’t experienced any creasing and think that it helps with the longevity too! I feel that those two products are a dynamic duo and I highly recommend using them together.

Final thoughts: Overall the Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Ultra Longwear concealer gets a mahusive thumbs up from me!… Dare I say, I’m slightly obsessed with it. I love how opaque yet easy to blend it is, has excellent coverage, lasts very well without creasing and the key thing for me is that it’s actually hydrating! I feel that it will suit most skin types, especially dry skin and I have a feeling that this may just become my new favourite concealer.
