I remember the days when the Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil was the only product that I needed to fill in my brows… Oh, how times have changed. The demand for having ‘snatched brows’ has definitely become the beauty obsession of the century and I have to say that I am all for that!
I was using the ABH Dipbrow Pomade for a while before I converted to retractable brow pencils and I must admit I have never looked back. I have tried a fair share of retractable pencils including the cult favourites ABH Dipbrow Pomade & the Benefit Precisely my brow pencil, but I found that I was getting through them super quick and replacing them was leaving a dent in my pocket. I have been on the lookout for affordable dupes and after trying out the NYX Mico brow pencil, I think I may have found a winner!… Writing a review to let you guys know about it was, of course, a no-brainer:)
What is it: A Ultra-thin Micro brow pencil, which is so precise that it allows you to coat even the finest hairs for a ‘natural- looking brow’. It comes in eight different shades to choose from and the one I chose is called Black.
I was using the Soap & Glory Brow Archery before I purchased the NYX Mirco browpencil and although I really liked the formula & finish, I wasn’t happy with the colour match. I have to say that I have never used a brow product that has been such a perfect colour match for my dark brows- The shade black blends in seamlessly with my natural colour, creating natural looking brows.
When I first tried this product, I instantly fell in love with it! I know there have been comparisons made to the ABH brow whiz, but it immediately reminded me of the Benefit Precisely my brow in terms of pigmentation- It is super pigmented, even with the lightest pressure. It has a waxy texture that glides on smoothly, which makes for quick & easy application-This is a godsend for early mornings as ‘ain’t nobody got time’ to spend on carving out their brows when they’re half asleep!
The thing I love most is the precision you get with the micro-tip design. You have precise control on how fine or thick you want the lines to be and can create a natural or a bold looking brow. The consistency is slightly drier and less creamy than the ABH Brow Wiz & Benefit precisely my brow, but I believe that this makes it last that slightly bit longer and creates denser looking strokes. I also appreciate that it comes with a handy spoolie to brush my brows through.
If you are a fan of retractable brow pencils and you are looking for something that is a bit more budget-friendly than you definitely need to check out the NYX Micro brow. I know that this will be sitting firmly in my makeup bag for a while:)
