My Top 5 Drugstore Highlighters Under £10!

highlighters.JPG

When I first starting getting into makeup many moons ago, highlighter was pretty much non-existent. Fast forward a decade and it has pretty much become one of my favourite makeup items. I remember seeing a picture of Kim Kardashian with stripes all over her face that were created by her makeup artist Mario and from that moment on, the beauty world has become obsessed over contour & highlight.

Due to growing a slightly unhealthy obsession for highlighter, I have acquired a pretty hefty collection of both higher end and affordable highlighters. Mac’s Soft & gentle will forever be my favourite highlighter, however, I have discovered some pretty amazing highlighters from the drugstore which reinforced to me that you really don’t need to spend tons of money to find one just as good.

I’m excited to share my Top 5 highlighters which are all under £10 and revile some of my higher end ones which cost 5 times the amount!! I have created a YouTube Video which contains swatches of the highlighters which I will link at the bottom of this post, but for now, I will list the highlighters and a short description as to why I love them:)

1) MUA Luxe Glow Beam Highlighting Powder – Gold- £5

Usually, I will leave the best till last, but I’m going to jump straight in with my favourite:)  The MUA luxe glow is different to any highlighter that I own as it comes in the form of a dusting powder which has a similar application technique to a loose setting powder.  It has a gorgeously smooth and velvety formula which reflects a beautiful golden glow. If you are looking for an affordable super popping, dazzling highlighter then this is your guy!!

Kiko Water Eyeshadow in number 208- £8.90

Now I know this is an eyeshadow, but this makes an amazing highlighter!! It has an extremely soft and creamy texture which as described- enables the creation of a multi-dimensional effect. To say this golden little gem is pigmented is an understatement, in fact, it’s a pretty good dupe for my Laura Geller Gilded Honey Highlighter but more than half the price. It can be used wet or dry so if you are into your wet looking highlighter then this is definitely one to try:)

Maybelline Master Strobing Stick Highlighter in Nude Glow- £7.99

If you’re into your dewy creamy highlighters then you need this stunning highlighter stick in your collection. It’s creamy and lightweight texture is super easy to apply and I personally like to apply it with my fingers which is the perfect product to use for the morning rush. I feel it makes the perfect base to layer any of my powder highlighters on if I want to go for a super glowy wet look.

Makeup Revolution Pro Illuminate – £4

I’m not going to lie, the fact that this highlighter is nearly the size of my face and contains a whopping 15 g of product, is a big reason why I initially gravitated towards it. However, I was pleasantly surprised at how buttery and smooth it is to the touch and I’m also in LOVE with a unique whitish gold tone that it has. It almost gives my skin a pearly, iridescent glow without being too overbearing giving me a subtle lit from within glow.

Sleek Solstice highlighting palette- £9.99

Last and by certainly means not least, I had to include the sleek solstice palette. Sleek really know how to make a good palette as they are infamous for their contour kits and they didn’t disappoint with their highlight kit. It is packaged in a stunning rose gold compact with a mirror and includes two baked powder, one luxurious cream formula and one silky shimmer powder. I particularly adore the two baked powders as they are super duper pigmented and have a metallic finish giving my skin a radiant glow.

As well as highlighting my cheekbones, I’ll use them across the eyelid, on the inner corners, and across the brow-bone. This is a good palette to opt for if you’re a beginner to makeup or highlighter as It is super versatile and I feel it will suit all skin tones.

I hope you have enjoyed this post and gained some inspiration of which affordable highlighters you can pick up next time you are at the drugstore. Which affordable highlighters have you been enjoying from the drugstore?
