LA Girl Pro Coverage HD Long Wear Illuminating Foundation Review

Hi guys, I hope you’re having a marvellous May so far! So, I am back with another foundation review:) If you’ve been reading my posts for a while, then you’ll know I like to try out different foundations, whether it be high-street or high-end, as I’m always intrigued to see if they will live up to their bold claims.

L.A Girl PRO.Coverage HD Long Wear Illuminating Liquid Foundation is one that I have been meaning to pick up for a while, but I had a fair few foundations to get through before I could justify acquiring another one! LA Girl Cosmetics are infamous for their L.A. Girls Pro Concealers & Correcter that you must have seen make an appearance on many beauty enthusiasts Instagram videos and are extremely popular within the beauty community. When I saw that they had released this foundation, well it was a no-brainer that I had to have it!

Details

This claims to be a HD foundation providing you with a full coverage and a flawless finish. It has a lightweight formula which is paraben free with added antioxidants to help hydrate and improve the appearance of the skin. Anything that is paraben free is definitely a good’n for sensitive skin as it will contain no nasties that will irritate it.

Shade Range & Packaging

This foundation comes in durable plastic packaging that has been compared to the Makeup Forever foundation. It comes with a pump and the bottle is clear, making it easy to see your 28ml worth of foundation. I don’t mind the packaging and think that it’s pretty nice quality for the £11 price point!

There are 15 shades to choose from, which includes a white shade that acts as a lightener for your foundation. I like the fact that they cater to darker skin tones but it was a bit of a task to find the right shade for me. I’m an NC25 in MAC and I ended up going for GLM624-fair, which doesn’t sound like it should be accurate, but it was the closest match to my skin tone.

Texture/Coverage & Finish

Purely on the fact that this foundation is marketed as HD and lightweighticon instantly caught my attention. I used to be a light to medium coverage kinda girl, but those days are long gone! If I wear a foundation, then I want it to provide me with all of that coverage minus the usual cakiness!

I applied it using my cherished Morphe M439 brush and I was immediately impressed by how lightweight and effortless it was to buff into my skin. It also provided me with an undetectable flawless coverage and as stated gave my skin that HD look… I don’t know the science behind how it did that, but all I know is that both of the claims that made me purchase this foundation were spot on! Also, I didn’t need the one and a half pumps worth of product as a little really does go a long way.

Another thing that lived up to its claim is that it is certainly illuminating and dewy but not at all greasy feeling. I would definitely recommend setting it with powder, especially if you have an oilier skin type as it may become greasy throughout the day. I have dry skin, but I still need to powder as the luminosity can be seen from outta space :P! In fact, this foundation reminds me of my favourite highlighter, but as a foundation, as it just makes my skin look naturally healthy and glowing.

The only thing that lets this foundation down for me slightly is the lasting power. It lasts around 5 hours before it starts to oxidise, which can be quite noticeable around my jawline. However, I recently started applying primer religiously and find that it can last a couple of more hours longer which is not bad at all considering it makes you look like you have JLo looking skin:) Plus, if you powder your face throughout the day and set it with a good setting spray, then you’ll be good to go!… This is something that I can be guilty of neglecting but it makes such a difference with the lasting power of your foundation!

My verdict

I’m glad I picked up this foundation as it has become my go-to everyday foundation I reach for working days along with my L’Oreal true match. It’s actually quite similar to the L’Oreal true match in pigment and texture so if you’re a fan of that foundation then you’ll love this one! Will I be repurchasing it again? Yes, as it makes me look like I have out of this world skin, but of course, as a true makeup addict, I have plenty more to purchase and review for you all:) xx

Have you tried this foundation? What are your thoughts?
